We got Peter a black and white skeleton sweat suit for him to wear during the day. We decided that he looked like Johnny in The Karate Kid. "Sweep the leg!" "Yes, sensei!" Except Peter could never be bad like Johnny was!
As a family, we dressed up as characters from The Wizard of Oz. Jeremiah was the Scarecrow, I was Dorothy, and Peter was the Cowardly Lion. We figured that these were costumes we could grow into as a family. If we have another boy, we can add a Tin Man. If we have a girl, she can be Glinda, Dorothy, or the Wicked Witch (and I can switch around my part too).
We got some very last minute notice that the Primary presidency was responsibile for the table decorations at Trunk-or-Treat, so I pulled some very late nights. Thanks to Martha Stewart, I was able to make a few things. We asked the kids to decorate some pumpkins to help decorate the tables. But we had a good idea that a lot of the kids would probably forget, so hence the Martha Stewart fallback. We had about 8 pumpkins brought in by the kids. In addition to the things I made (and the silk fall leaves I got to cover the tables), the tables were covered nicely.
I made some witches' brooms out of paper bags, Jeremiah and I carved a couple of pumpkins, and I made my favorite, famous glitter pumpkins. And guess what? Someone loved my glitter pumpkins so much that they took home 3 out of 6 of them to keep for themselves! What? Can you believe that? Someone took home my glitter pumpkins! They took them home from a ward activity!? I can't believe it. I hope they realize that they are real pumpkins and at the longest, they will only last until December. But then again, since they took them from me, I hope they pack the pumpkins away to use next year and open up the box to find rotted glitter pumpkins! Take that, thief! I know this is silly, but I take a picture of my glitter pumpkins every year. This year, I only took a picture of the three that made it home...because the other three were kidnapped!
But even despite the glitter pumpkins, I'd have to say this was the best Halloween I've had so far. It was the first Halloween I have gotten to spend with Jeremiah and Peter! Halloween is only going to get better and better as we keep adding people!
Clint wants you to know that Johnny from Karate Kid turned around, and eventually he was a good person.
ReplyDeleteI want to know what in the world mom was watching on her tv!
And you all look adorable in your costumes. Pete is one fat little lion! :)
Those are cute glitter pumpkins! I'll have to try making some next year. That's too bad that someone pilfered them.
ReplyDeleteIs Peter walking?
Peter is such a little cutie Sarah! You have such a cute little family! :-)

I love all of your costumes. So creative and fun. I never dress up. I'm just a party pooper. Either that or I'm just not creative enough to think of anything.
ReplyDeleteAre those glitter pumpkins hard to make? They are really cool. I'll have to try some out next year.
I wondered what was on the tv, too. Whatever it was, I'm not responsibile for it. The tv is always either on Fox News or some kind of sports. I'm not allowed to use the family room tv unless it's the middle of the night; and now not even then because Niel's boys are playing computer games all night long.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Peter is just so cute!!!!
But it doesn't look like Fox or Sports, so I'm stumped.
so awesome, and all of it is cute.
