Peter can be kind of a picky eater. He likes a lot of different kinds of foods, but he likes variety. For instance, he loves corn dogs, but if you serve it to him again too soon, he won't even look at it, let alone touch it.
I'm going to give you guys a list of foods I serve Peter for lunch. If you have any additional ideas, I would be so grateful to hear them!
Corn dogs
Hot dogs
Quesadillas
Grilled cheese sandwiches
Chicken nuggets
Tamales
PB&J's
Macaroni and cheese
Ramen noodles
Chef Boyardee stuff
Toaster oven pizzas (made on either English muffins or pita bread)
I'll give him dinner leftovers from the night before with varying levels of success too.
But does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas?

What about tuna sandwiches? Or fish sticks? Or crab? We always liked that. Cooking light came out with a baby toddler cook book last year I have want to check out. Actually Jerry seinfeld's wife has a kids cook book that looks kinda interesting too, she disguises veggies by pureeing them and then adding them to various kid friendly meals. You should do a google search you are the queen of Internet searches!!!
ReplyDeleteI've tried fish sticks and haven't had too much success with those yet. I think he might still be a little too young for tuna fish sandwiches, but I should try them. I know that when I give him PB&J it's a very messy experience and he usually only wants to eat them if Jeremiah or I am having one too. What a sassy guy! I'll have to check out the Cooking Light baby/toddler cookbook!
ReplyDeleteI think bento style lunches are so cute, and the food looks so yummy the way it is presented. Here is a cool blog I found with lots of bento lunch ideas: http://happylittlebento.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteAlso, a few more ideas I had were hard-boiled eggs, roll-up sandwiches, edamame, or potstickers. Good luck with trying out some new lunches. I hope you find some more things Peter likes!
You should go check out those kids tv dinners. What were they called? You guys loved them. I don't mean buy them; just see what they have. Shoot, I can see the package in front of my eyes right now. As soon as I post this comment, I will remember it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I did. Kid Cuisine.
ReplyDeleteJust blogging around this afternoon and found your blog. What a little cutie. You've don a great job with your page. Thanks for letting me visit.

Thanks for your suggestions! I checked out that bento blog. It was so cool! Lots of good ideas there. I don't think Peter is patient enough for me to present his lunches in such a cool and imaginative fashion, but they were way fun to look at and had lots of good ideas. I'll have to try hard-boiled eggs (Peter likes them scrambled when he's in the right mood). I'll also have to try some roll up sandwiches. He would probably like those because he can eat them on the run (for instance, on nice days, sometimes I'll let him eat outside while he plays). He doesn't like potstickers though...and the problem there is that I end up eating them all because I love them!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out the kids' frozen dinners when I go shopping next. Though I don't know if they still make Kid Cuisines. Hmmmm.
Oh, and the Cooking Light Kids/Toddler cookbook doesn't come out until August of this year, darn it!
I used to feed you vienna sausages. Ick. I can't believe I did that and I can't believe you ate them.
ReplyDeleteThey still make kid cuisine, I have bought them a few times. Nasty, Vienna sausages! That's almost as bad as Spam! Yuck! I wish I could get Maddie to eat a lot more veggies, she rarely eats them.
ReplyDeleteMom, I didn't know what you meant by Vienna sausages, so I looked them up online. Yucky! I've tried giving Peter Lil' Smokies, but he doesn't like those. I think they are too salty for him.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Shandie, thanks for setting me straight. Kid Cuisines are still available. I looked them up online after your comment.
I might pick up some Kid Cuisines for Peter for when I am in the hospital with Jonathan so that whoever is feeding Peter won't have to try so hard to figure out what to feed him while I'm gone!
