April, Part 3: Spring Soccer

Soccer was crazy busy and super wild this spring. Johnny decided that he wanted to give soccer along with his big brother, Peter, and we very quickly learned that soccer is not Johnny's thing. To clarify further, Johnny really doesn't like playing soccer.

Above: Peter was a good sport and helped coach Johnny as the goalie while Dad coached the team.

Above: Oh, that silly Pete. :)

Above: Dan loves being outside and watching the games. I had my hands full at these games. Dan was usually hungry during game time, Johnny was full of trepidation and needed help, Jeremiah had his hands full coaching the team, and Peter was alternately helping Johnny and running all over the place. It was quite a juggling act.

Above: This may have been one of those times where Johnny was simply done being the goalie, or it could have been one of the times where he started marching off the field, taking off his goalie top, and refusing to play anymore. I'm not quite sure...because it happened both ways quite a few times. I had to offer a lot of incentives (aka bribes) to get Johnny to participate in his games. He was really unhappy out on the field. He was okay when he was the goalie (though he didn't love it), but he really hated playing any other position.

Above: Some games were better than others. This was one of the good games for Johnny. He had a good time at this game.

Above: Dan had a good time too!

Above: Johnny's favorite part was when he wasn't playing. Unfortunately, they had a small team to start with, and a lot of the kids didn't show up to each game, so most of the time, Johnny HAD to play so that they had enough players on the field. A few times, Johnny refused to play and Peter happily stepped in and played for him in his place.

Above: In fact, Johnny's games were kind of hard for Peter too. He wanted to be out on the field playing and it drove him crazy that he couldn't. He usually ended up playing on his own, or finding a kid with a ball that he could play with.

Above: It was a crazy busy season having two kids playing soccer and trying to sell a house. We didn't think that one through. However, we had a lot of good times too.

Above: See? These are good times.

Above: Peter in his happy place.

Above: Peter really is in his element while playing soccer.

Above: Johnny had a good time. His favorite times were on the sidelines, but we still had some good times (and Johnny earned some amazing Beanie Boos from playing). Look at this sweet and handsome Johnny though. I could just give him a big hug and a kiss. He's a sweet guy.

Above: What a silly guy!

Above: Isn't Pete a good little coach?

Above: Jeremiah coached both teams--Johnny's and Pete's. Maybe it wouldn't have even been so bad if both kids were playing soccer, but the fact that both kids were playing soccer AND Jeremiah was coaching both teams AND we were selling our house AND moving during the season made things a little rough.

Above: Oh, that silly, fun-loving Pete of mine. I sure love him.

More soccer to come. The season goes until June! What were we thinking!? :)
