Adventures with Peter!

Well, as I said yesterday, I am really behind in my blogging. So, now I'm playing catch up. Here are some pictures from some of our outings with Peter since the beginning of November. We did a lot, so there are a lot of pictures. But I figured that rather than breaking them up into separate blogs (and taking the chance of getting even further behind) that I would just bite the bullet and do it all at once!

Above: We took Peter up to the Milcreek Canyon hoping to catch some fall leaves, but sadly, that time was past and gone and all of the leaves were crunchy, brown, and on the ground. Hopefully we'll catch them next year! But Peter had a great time.

Above: Peter helping me push a massive boulder.

Above: Me helping Peter push that same massive boulder. We didn't get very far.

Above: Running across a picnic table to give Daddy big hugs.

Above: We made a little fall visit to Temple Square for one of our Family Home Evening outings. Peter loved the fountains. No surprise there! My little guy loves to play in the water.

Above: See? It doesn't matter what the temperature is. Peter can't keep away from the water. He just can't.

Above: I love that stance!

Above: Temple Square sure has a lot of fountains! It's a good thing Daddy is strong, otherwise, Peter would have been swimming in them.

Above: Taking a bubble bath after a particularly messy meal. Peter LOVES bubbles.

Above: Getting up close and personal with the camera. As a result, the picture is overexposed, but isn't he so cute?

Above: Peter doesn't like bubbles in his mouth though.

Above: Having a great time with Papa and an Indian wigwam at "Eat Like a Pilgrim" down at Thanksgiving Point--one of our favorite traditions with the Washburns.

Above: Enjoying a snowy day. We had a good run of Sunday mornings with a LOT of snow. Since we have 1 p.m. church, we were able to go outside and play in it after breakfast. Oh, and Peter loves to eat snow. Yum! But then again, I love to eat snow too!

Above: Daddy laid me down in the snow to see what I would think of it. My response? Just to chill out.

Above: It wasn't very good packing snow, so Dad improvised with a tomato cage and packed snow into that and made a snowman (a cone snowman). This is what I thought of it.

Above: What do YOU think of it, Dad?

Above: I might warm up to the idea of a snowman.

Above: At least his nose is fun to take off.

Above: Peter, Daddy, and the Snowman.

Above: Not bad for my very first snowman.

Above: Hanging out with Daddy on one of his rare nights home from school. This semester was a tough one. Jeremiah only had two classes, but here's how our weeks went:

Monday: Study group starting at 6 p.m.
Tuesday: Class from 6-9:20 p.m.
Wednesday: Young Men's from 7-9:30 p.m., Church Basketball until 11 p.m. (Jeremiah is now in the Young Men's presidency)
Thursday: Class from 6-9:20 p.m.
Friday: Family time.
Saturday: Study group from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Dad's reaction: exhaustion.
Mom's reaction: pregnancy induced breakdowns!

Above: It's a good thing we made the most of our family time! Isn't this guy so sweet to let Daddy give him kisses?

Above: Peter has started to smile for the camera on cue. His smiles for the camera are particularly energetic. :) What a cutie!

Above: More smiles and poses for the camera. He might have picked up my "Goldie Hawn smile." When I was little, I didn't know how to smile for the camera and it always turned out over the top--with all the tendons in my neck sticking out and all of my teeth visible! Peter's over-enthusiastic smile is a lot cuter than mine was though!

Above: Peter loves to run in circles around Mommy and Daddy...waiting in anticipation for when one of us will grab him, cuddle him, and kiss him. Here's Peter running joyfully from Daddy's kisses.

Above: Peter loves this game! So do Mommy and Daddy. But I have no idea how he doesn't get dizzy with all of his running in circles!

Above: Peter's reaction to Thanksgiving. By the end of the day, he was willing to sleep wherever he could--even if that meant he had to sleep on stair railings. We spent Thanksgiving at Nammy's house. Peter had a good time...but it was a long day for a little guy like him! This also represents the only picture we took of Thanksgiving this year!

Above: Enjoying the sites with my cousin, Cameron, at "Breakfast with Santa" down at Thanksgiving Point. Peter was a busy boy and we didn't get very many pictures of him because he wouldn't slow down for us! Oh, and no, Peter did NOT go to see Santa. Peter is not a big fan of Santa yet. He hated him last year, and I knew that he would hate him this year too. So, we didn't even try. I was watching an Elmo Christmas special that had a particularly creepy Santa and I thought to myself "Geez. No wonder so many little kids get freaked out by Santa. This guy is scary!"

Above: We had a good time going to "Zoo Lights" at Hogle Zoo. Peter LOVES elephants (he calls them "Elbas."). Peter thought the lights were soooooo cool.

Above: A very nice family (who took FOREVER taking their family picture just before we got in place to take ours) offered to take our picture since we had to wait so long for them.

Above: Enjoying some cookies, cuddling, and tickling on a Sunday morning.

Above: Dressing just like Daddy for church.

Above: Welcoming Aunt Emily home (she had been gone on a study abroad to France since September) and visiting Temple Square to see the lights at the same time.

Above: Taking in the sights at the Tabernacle.

Above: Look at all of those cool lights!

Above: Emily took this picture of me and Jeremiah. For the record, I HATE being pregnant. I have nothing to complain about because I have healthy pregnancies and I don't have too much discomfort. But I feel so ugly when I'm pregnant! And I have even gained a LOT less weight this time than I did when I was pregnant with Peter. But I still feel huge. Blah! Two more months to go!

Above: There goes Pete and his love of water again!

Above: "Let me at that water, Daddy!"

Above: I swear, Peter doesn't feel the cold. He only feels the water...and that's what matters to him!

Above: Just hangin' out with Daddy! Isn't Daddy's snowboarding coat wild?

Above: Time to be carried by Mommy! I love to be carried by my Mommy! It tuckers Mommy out because I weigh 30 pounds and she has about 20 pounds of baby Jonathan to carry too!

Above: Enjoying my favorite cave at the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point with Mommy and Aunt Emily. I can't enjoy a good cave without good company.

Above: I love my Daddy and I love dinosaurs!

Above: Aaaaaaaaaah! I LOVE dinosaurs! Though I do hate getting my hands messy. Do you see how I don't even let my fingers touch each other because they are covered in sand?

Above: Getting the dinosaurs together for a line up. Selected dinosaurs were later chucked into the sand and water as a punishment for reasons unknown to anyone else!

Above: It's Clark Kent...er...Pete!

Have you noticed how I am now binkie free? That's right, the Monday after Thanksgiving, we said a sad farewell to the binkie. And it was indeed a sad farewell. While Peter was blissfully eating breakfast, I snuck his binkie away and cut the top off of it and then slyly put it back where it had been before. It took Peter awhile to notice it. When he did notice it, he thought it was funny...at first. Then, realization set in and he discovered that the binkie could not be returned to its previous un-cut state. Then, Peter got sad. Genuinely sad. I felt awful. Peter cried straight for at least an hour. And it wasn't a tantrum or a spoiled cry. It was the cry of someone who was mourning the loss of a good friend. Peter truly realized that the binky was no more. It almost made ME cry to see how sad he was. I'm serious--I really felt awful. It took a few days for him to completely get over it, but he got over it a lot faster than I thought he would. We had some rough moments and it messed up his nap and morning schedule, but other than that, it went a lot more smoothly than I expected.

How is life after the binkie? Fantastic! I am so happy not to have to look for lost binkies anymore and Peter's sleep schedule is back to normal and he doesn't seem to miss it at all. Plus, he's talking and interacting a lot more--which is really fun for me. I love it! I should have broken him of the binkie sooner...but trust me, I had my reasons. The timing was right!

  1. It was so fun to be caught up with the Pete Chronicles. You really had a lot of good times this fall. It's nice that you are documenting them! I wish I had done that more when you were little.
