Fun Times with Pete and Jonathan

I need to blog about the past six weeks because they have definitely been an adventure, but it has been hard to find enough time to type up the escapades we have had. Hopefully I can tell you the tale soon...

But for now, a few silly things happened with Peter (and a very sweet thing with Jonathan) that I wanted to share.

First, we were watching Toy Story 3 last night and when Ken and Barbie meet, it plays a silly little love song and they act all lovey-dovey. As soon as that part happened, Peter got so mad! He roared at the TV screen, made the angriest face imaginable, and then proceeded to sword fight the TV with a cardboard paper towel roll. Ha! I guess he's not ready for romance yet.

Second, when I went to Peter's room to get him out of bed this morning, he had the craziest case of bed-head ever and he growled at me! He looked like a little lion. So I ran and got my camera which tickled Peter's funny bone. My little lion was no longer fierce, but friendly. :)

Above: Peter's expression is kind of silly in this picture because I caught him in the middle of a combination smile/roar.

Third, I bought a super cute little play kitchen for Peter (it was only $18 and that included shipping!). He was having a great time playing with it and picked up a cluster of pretend purple grapes. He said "Ewww! Poo poo!" I guess the grapes did look a little like poo...

Fourth and finally, Jonathan started smiling last Sunday. We unwittingly got one of the first little smiles on video by chance. After that, I missed a ton of Jonathan's smiles because I was tending to Peter's shenanigans. Jeremiah kept saying "Quick Sarah, look!" I would be turned away because Peter had my mascara in his mouth or some other type of hijinks and as soon as I would look, Jonathan would be done smiling. I have been thwarted in seeing Jonathan's smiles the past few days because of similar mishaps. But luckily, I got to see a few sweet smiles yesterday and a whole lot of really sweet smiles this afternoon because Jonathan woke up early from his nap and Peter slept longer during his nap! I got some sweet alone time with Jonathan and he was as smiley as can be. He has such a sweet little smile. You can see the difference in Peter's and Jonathan's personalities even in their smiles. Even Peter's first smile was open-mouthed and over-the-top boisterous (especially since it followed tears from his mommy after a 3 a.m. failed session of breast feeding). Jonathan has a sweet, gentle, more closed-mouthed smile that sneaks up on you. It is so nice.

Above: Jonathan spit up on his outfit and I was in the middle of changing him when he struck this cute little pose. I just had to stop and take a picture. Don't babies have such sweet little bodies?

Above: Here he is looking super cute after the outfit change.

Above: Sharing Eskimo kisses with Daddy. He looks so much like his Dad!

Above: What a sweet guy!

Above: I just thought I'd include a close-up of that cute little face in case you missed it in the last picture!

I tell you, the past six weeks have been quite a ride and it is a lot of work juggling these two boys, but I've had a lot of fun and I love them both so much. I've got even more good times ahead!

I'm including a video of Jonathan's first little smile, but these videos never do it justice because of the quality and because they are so small. The smile is a lot clearer when you watch it on my camera or computer.

  1. Ha ha! Pete must have gone to the Nephi school of not-lovin romance. He still doesn't like Clara from Back to the Future III. Love the bedhead.

It's so fun to see Jonathan growing and finding his place in the fam. He's a handsome boy and he's growing up fast!

  3. Pete's hair looks like Nephi's every morning! J.K. :) He can't defend himself on here so I had to say it. The boys are getting so big and are so sweet.

  5. How in the world did I miss that you have a blog all of this time?!? Oh, man. I have some major catching up to do. I'm glad I can get the scoop on your life, though. Maybe you should do your snorting arpeggios to get Jonathan to smile... it always worked on me! :)
