September, Part 6: Day One of Our Trip to Twin Falls, Idaho

As I had mentioned earlier in the year, I had a miscarriage in March. My due date would have been September 26th (Jeremiah's birthday). In order to take our minds off of things and do something fun for Jeremiah's birthday, we decided that we needed to go out of town and see something new. So, we decided to go to Twin Falls, Idaho. My mom had mentioned Shoshone Falls (which I had never heard of before) and when I looked it up online, I was intrigued. Plus, it was only a 3 1/2 hour drive away...so, we were sold and we decided to go to Twin Falls.

This trip turned out to be just what we needed. It was a very short trip--we left on a Thursday afternoon and came back on Saturday afternoon, but it was the perfect little autumn trip.

We didn't tell the boys at all about the trip. We kept it a surprise. I packed while they slept the night before. The day we left, Peter went to school as usual and Johnny actually had a field trip for preschool to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. So, I will start with a few pictures of Johnny's field trip and then share pictures from our trip to Idaho.

Above: Johnny's class made some binoculars out of toilet paper rolls. They all brought them to the farm so they could look at the animals through them.

When we finished the field trip, we picked up Peter from school. Then I asked the boys if they would like to go on a trip that day, stay in a hotel, and swim in a hotel pool that night. They were, of course, very excited. It was fun to surprise them that way.

Above: Who couldn't love this guy with the big brown eyes and sweet smile?

Above: After we checked into our hotel and got settled, we took a short drive to see the Twin Falls, Idaho temple. The drive into Idaho Falls is breathtaking. For hours, you see nothing but flat farmland, but then you cross over the Perrine Bridge to drive into Twin Falls and you feel like you are driving into The Great Valley (from The Land Before Time). It is gorgeous. We didn't take any pictures as we were driving in, but we took a lot before we left. Those pictures are at the end because we took them on our very last day.

Above: It was a really pretty night.

Above: I love the succession of expressions in the next few pictures.

Above: Tough guy, eh?

Above: Thank you camera timer. :)

Above: The temple just looked so cool lit up against the cloudy sky. After our visit to the temple, we grabbed some dinner and then went back to the hotel to swim before going to bed for the night.

Next up...day two of our trip to Twin Falls, Idaho!
