March, Part 5: Easter

Easter is always so much fun with these sweet boys of mine. We had a good time this year dyeing our eggs, having egg hunts, and searching for our Easter baskets.

Above: I found these fun Whopper malt ball eggs that you could decorate with edible markers. We all had a lot of fun with these.

Above: We used a decorate and eat as you go method. Notice Johnny's candy covered face.

Above: And notice Peter's bulging Whopper filled cheeks.

Above: Dad and Pete decorated some pretty cool Whopper eggs.

Above: The day before Easter, we had lunch and an egg hunt with our Washburn cousins at Aunt Angie's house. Dan was looking particularly chubby and lovable that day!

Above: Aunt Angie's yard is an Easter egg hunt's dream. There were a lot of really great places to hide eggs and we had a TON of eggs for the kids to find, so they all brought in quite the haul.

Above: He was a boy on the move.

Above: And there he goes! No time to pause for pictures when there is an egg hunt going on!

Above: Johnny took a little more time, so I got some nice shots of him.

Above: We had so much fun dying and decorating our Easter eggs. I had the boys strip down to their underwear and then put some of my old shirts on so that they didn't get dye on their clothes.

Above: It's not an easy thing to get these boys to all smile at the same time! Especially when they are busy dying their eggs and being generally silly.

Above: There were a lot of bunny ears being passed around.

Above: I sure love my silly boys. They had a fun time.

Above: Here's Dad being silly and acting like a bunny rabbit.

Above: At one point, Dad felt left out since he didn't have one of my old shirts on to protect himself from dye splatters, so he put one on himself. Silly Daddy!

Above: Here are Peter's eggs.

Above: Here are Daddy's eggs.

Above: Here are Johnny's eggs. We usually eat all of our eggs, but since it was so crazy with house preparation stuff, I'm afraid that most of these eggs ultimately ended up in the trash.

Above: As is our tradition, the boys had to go on a treasure hunt to find their Easter baskets. It was fun because this year, Peter was old enough to read the clues himself.

Above: I sent these boys all over the place to find clues to where their baskets were hidden. We started in the kitchen, explored the main floor a bit, and then went down to the basement.

Above: Then I sent the boys running up the stairs to find more clues in their bedroom (carefully shielding them from the baskets that they had just run past on the landing...the baskets were covered with blankets).

Above: The next clue took them to my bedroom. As you can see, we don't make beds in this house unless we absolutely have to. We have much more important things to attend to! :) Or, so I tell myself. Ha ha!

Above: Peter practicing his Shakespeare.

Above: Ahhh, at long last. After a grueling treasure hunt that dragged on for a whole 15 minutes, the boys finished all of the clues and found their Easter baskets on our couches on the landing.

Above: I sure love these handsome boys of mine.

Above: Dan's very first Easter basket!

Above: Dan thought his basket was pretty cool.

Above: It was filled with Dan-appropriate goodies.

Above: "Is it time to eat yet?"

Above: We finished Easter off with an egg hunt of our own in our backyard. It was a bit chilly, but not too cold. The boys insisted on having their hoods on, so it made it hard to get some good pictures because they were always running away from me on their hunt to find some eggs. I'm glad it wasn't snowy for our last egg hunt in our Suncrest backyard. I'm really going to miss this yard. We have had some good times and made some good memories here.

Above: He looks more like a thief than a kid on an egg hunt...

Above: I finally convinced Peter to take his hood off for a moment. What a handsome guy!

Above: I sure love these sweet and silly boys of mine. We had such a great Easter this year. Lots of good times and good memories made.
