Among the Tulips...and Scheduling Issues

We took our little guy to Thanksgiving Point the other day to the Tulip Festival. Due to certain timing issues, the expedition took place during his morning nap. He got two little catnaps on the drive down and the drive back that helped to make up for it a little bit. He did very well and seemed pretty interested (he loves being outside), but he did not want to ride in his stroller for very long. It was a little chilly (I forgot to bring a sweater, so Jeremiah let me use his sweatshirt) but Peter didn't mind and it gave us an opportunity to put him in his cute little hooded sweatshirt that my Mom bought for him. We did pay later in the day for Peter's lack of a morning nap though! He had a rough afternoon! It's such a fine line. It's good to get Peter out of the house and give him other experiences, but at the same time, if you mess with his naptimes, there is a price to pay later on!

This is why Sundays are such an adventure. It doesn't matter what time church is at--each of the scheduled times mess with either a naptime or a feeding. We have church at eleven, so Sacrament Meeting happens smack dab in the middle of Peter's morning nap and it also conflicts with his lunch time at noon. Sundays are just tough for little kids.

This past Sunday was the first day that we took Peter to all three hours of church. He was blessed the Sunday before that, but we only took him to Sacrament Meeting that day. It is going to be an adjustment, that's for sure. I had to take him out of the meeting three different times. I probably only spent about 20 minutes, tops, in the chapel. Also, I don't know what it is about prayers that makes Peter want to start crying! The back row was filled with sweet older widows who kept smiling at me every time I had to take Peter out. According to Jeremiah, I blushed every single time. I'm just not used to half of the chapel staring at me each time I leave! I don't remember very much of what anybody said at the pulpit either!

Oh yes, Sundays are going to be an adventure for the next 10-20 years!

  3. Hey Sarah, I thought you had fallen off the face of the Earth. I hadn't heard anything from you since your wedding. Your little guy is so cute. Congratulations!

I have a blog of my own at:

I'm not very good at keeping it up-to-date, though. However, I am on Facebook a lot as are most of the Madrigals. Seeing as how you're 12 years behind on technology in general, I guess I could expect to see you on Facebook in another 7 years or so.

  4. Kevin was the one that always to take Allie out of the chapel when she was a baby. I appreciated that, because after a week with her, I was exhausted! I say only Allie, because Sami wasn't too disruptive as a baby (and neither is Drew)-- they just didn't/don't scream like Allie did. Sami's a little pill now, though. Had to put her in "time out" in a side classroom for biting me (albeit gently) after I had already taken her out for whining and convulsing over something lame (can't remember what it was, it was that "important").

    But anyway... Peter's a little doll! :)

  6. It's good to see that naptimes and loud babies are the biggest worries you have. And now that you're blogging you'll be able to show him when he's a teenager all that you did...and a mighty suspicious sleep-talking husband you have, eh? Just stopping by. My blog is at gloscreative writingsite.blogspot.com but, it doesn't have any new pictures, though I'm working on that.
