My beautiful sister, Laurie, got married on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. She looked bee-yu-ti-ful. She is a gorgeous gal anyway, but spruce her up even more and put her in a beautiful wedding gown and she's absolutely stunning.
She got married to Clint Allred in the Salt Lake Temple. The day turned out lovely, which was a relief since the majority of June (including the day before and the day after her wedding) was rainy.
She had her reception at my Dad's house (as mentioned in the post about Cupcake Madness). There was a scary cloudburst at about 3:30 p.m. (right when we were trying to set her reception up) that knocked over half of the tables and chairs out in the yard. I was pretty worried that we weren't going to be able to have the reception outside. But it cleared up just in time to give us all a mad dash to set up the tables, decorate them and set out the food before getting our family pictures taken. It was definitely a close call! We got the food set out just as the first guests arrived.
I'm not going to lie, it was a lot of work. By the end of the night, my feet ached! What with the cupcake making and frosting and helping out with the reception, I was pretty tuckered out at the end of the day. Not to mention that we forgot about arranging for someone to cut the cake. So, I took over that responsibility (especially since I didn't want to have our family get stuck with a three layer, massive, $300 wedding cake to stick in our freezer!). It took nearly 45 minutes just to cut it up! Thank goodness my Mom's Young Women were there to pass it out to the guests. They were a huge help at the reception (they cleared the tables and restocked the food tables).
Plus, poor Peter (who had been nap deprived for the past few days due to church, a visit from the Smith family, and all of the wedding events) had a little baby breakdown at about 7:15 p.m. and Jeremiah had to take him home to feed him and put him to bed while I stayed behind to help out at the reception and help clean up afterwards.
But it was a beautiful reception. Laurie is quite the artist and visionary. She had rows of tables under a white tent. The tables were covered with vases of yellow, white and cream flowers tied with gray ribbon (her colors were gray and yellow). I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the reception because I was busy helping, but trust me. It was very pretty.
Laurie is a sweetheart and I'm so glad that she found such an amazing guy. Clint is so good to her and we're so excited to have him in our family. It's so fun to watch a family expand. Who else (nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law) will be joining us? So fun! We'll just have to wait and see (or in Mackay talk "hide and watch").
And Sarah is the ultimate trooper! You never saw such a worker. Laurie is lucky to have you as her big sis.
ReplyDeleteoh boy am I lucky! Thanks for all of the work you did! I think I was a bit of a slave driver at my wedding. ha ha. Love you!
