June, Part 2: Miscellaneous

Well, we've moved to a new house and a new neighborhood, but at the same time, life goes on. Though a lot has changed, some things will always be the same.

I spent this month feverishly unpacking and getting our house organized and put in order. It was a busy month for me. It was exhausting because it's not like the previous few months were a relaxing and peaceful walk in the park. I have been working like a dog since January to get our Suncrest house organized, packed up, and show ready so we could sell it...and then completely box it up so we could move. Also, it was a huge adjustment for the boys. They didn't really know anyone in our new neighborhood yet and I was busy unpacking, so they spent an awful lot of time on their tablets.

Above: I had to take a picture of my kitchen. Everything is finally put away, organized, and spotless. I know it won't stay that way forever...and it probably won't last very long either...

Above: I just have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Above: Ahhh. Picture perfect, spotless, and show ready...without the drawback of having to leave at a moment's notice for showings or worrying about trying to sell my house. If only it could remain this way forever...Unfortunately, I do still have to cook in here, and everyone knows that cooking messes up a kitchen pretty darned fast.

Above: I also got the boys' bedrooms put together and organized. This is Johnny's room. Oh, this is how I wish I could have had their rooms at the end of moving day so they could just walk into the new house that first day and feel right at home when we moved in. Too bad the moving guys totally stunk at their jobs and didn't unload bedroom furniture until 10 p.m. the day we moved in. Sheesh.

Above: Another view of Johnny's room. I would have killed for a window seat when I was a little girl.

Above: Peter's bedroom.

Above: I may have allowed the purchase of this man-size onesie, but that doesn't mean I approved of it.

Above: My brand new table. I loved our old table, but I was really excited to get this table because our old table only had four seats...and that meant that I never had a place to sit at dinner and always ate my meals standing at the counter...unless I ate by myself, then I could sit down. However, this table seats six people, and that means that I definitely have a place to sit and even though my boys tend to put up a fight about eating many of my meals (or on the other hand, they ask for seconds before I have even served my own dinner), it has allowed us to have a few meals where we have actually sat together as a family. On a side note, I'm so glad the previous owners left the curtains behind. It would have taken me a year or more to get curtains put up, and they add so much to the decor and making the house feel homey.

Above: Here's Jeremiah's office. I put the desk together myself while Jeremiah was at scout camp. I also put that chair together. In fact, I put together this whole office while Jeremiah was at scout camp and I did it in the middle of the night while Dan was sleeping (because poor Dan is having a super hard time sleeping in our new house...I'm having to sleep train him all over again. He's scared of his new bedroom). So, basically, the middle of the night was the only option because I wouldn't have been able to accomplish this while Dan was awake. I love that sweet little baby of mine, but we all know that babies are pretty needy and high maintenance. I even put up pictures. The only thing I can say is that, yes, I am Wonder Woman. Thank you, thank you.

Above: Another view of Jeremiah's office.

Above: We discovered the joys of Sonic while we were on our trip to Denver because there was a Sonic right next to our hotel. The boys loved all of their fun slushy drinks. Bonus that the toys for the kids' meals were Shark Week themed. Go Shark Week!

Above: We still have soccer games to go to. It has been confirmed that Johnny doesn't like being on a soccer team and Pete still loves it. Dan is a big fan of the outings and being outside.

Above: There are still plenty of snuggling opportunities in the morning.

Above: Peter is still as hammy as ever.

Above: What a silly guy!

Above: Since the boys don't have a ton of friends in the neighborhood yet, they have been spending more time than I would like on their tablets. However, at the same time, since I have been so busy unpacking and organizing the house, it's kind of hard to regulate their tablet time. The tablets keep them occupied so I can work and get more done. So...it's a hard thing, right? I don't want them to get into bad habits, but I have so much to do, and it keeps them busy so I can do it. Tought parenting stuff right there...

Above: There are still Sunday dinners to be enjoyed at Nammy's house.

Above: My brothers and sisters still don't like having their picture taken.

Above: Dan is still as sweet and super smiley as ever. Oh, don't you just want to snuggle him?

Above: The cousins still have a lot of fun together.

Above: Everyone had a good time showing off their snowcone colored tongues.

Above: Enjoying good times with Nammy.

Above: Some tongues were more affected by the colorful snowcones than others.

Above: Grant has a pretty impressive range when it comes to showing off his colored tongue.

Above: I honestly don't even remember whose footprints these were, but even I (someone who isn't the biggest fan of feet) thought this was super cute.

June was a crazy busy month for me, but I somehow survived it and got my house unpacked, organized, and put in order. Bring on July!
