October 2012 Part 1

It appears that I took a ton of pictures in October. So, I am going to break up October into parts! Enjoy!

Above: We got to go to Cornbelly's Corn Maze at Thanksgiving Point with our Washburn cousins. It was the best!

Above: We got to go on the pumpkin sack slide. This was a brand new thing this year. It looks scarier than it was. The kids didn't actually go very fast...but they loved it!

Above: Fun times with Cameron!

Above: Jonathan sure loves his Mimi!

Above: The microphone was a little loud at the pig races. Peter doesn't like loud noises anyway.

Above: The creature wasn't that loud, but I think Peter's ears were still recovering from the pig races.

Above: I love this "action" shot of Peter. It looks like he's getting ready for either "fight" or "flight." Knowing my guy, it's a fight he's after!

Above: Cornbelly's has all sorts of fun things for the kids to climb and play on. Everyone loved this train.

Above: Jonathan liked the train so much that he actually allowed everyone to put him down for a few minutes! This is a shy guy and when we are in situations he doesn't feel comfortable with, he doesn't want to be let go for a second. So, if you don't feel the stroller (his other safety net), then plan on carrying him the whole time. Which at 27 lbs. gets tiring.

Above: Jonathan loves his Papa!

Above: Jonathan loves slides!

Above: Jonathan loves slides with his Daddy too!

Above: Two of my sweet corn cobs! Peter was too fast and his pictures turned out blurry!

Above: We attempted to get pictures of the boys through a Groupon I bought. It didn't work out so well. Out of the 45 pictures she took, only 5 were good. We didn't get any of Jonathan.

Above: I called the photographer (not to her face) the "Pet Dragon Lady." I called her this because when she was trying to convince Peter that it would be fun to go outside to take pictures (neither he nor Jonathan wanted to take any pictures at all), she told him that she had a pet dragon that lived in an alley nearby and she wanted to show the dragon to Peter. This definitely caught Peter's attention. while we were walking to where she wanted to take the pictures, Peter found a bird feather. He picked it up and I told him to put it down (because ewwww!). The photographer jumped in and said, "Yeah, that bird was EATEN by my pet dragon." Well, this concerned Peter and he started getting a little worried about actually meeting this dragon. When we got to the alley where she wanted to take pictures, there was another photographer there, so we couldn't take any pictures there. Instead, she posed Peter in front of a building that just conveniently happened to have a rafter where about 4 or 5 pigeons lived. The bush below it was filled with discarded pigeon feathers. Peter said, "Look Mom, more feathers!" That crazy photographer jumped right in again and say, "Yeah! My dragon ate those birds too! And if you look at me and smil,e I'll have my pet dragon come out and meet you." By this time, Peter was more worried than anything about meeting a dragon. He didn't want to get eaten himself. I'm surprised that she got any pictures of him smiling at all, because for the most part, he just kept looking behind him and over his shoulder uneasily in order to avoid getting eaten by a hungry dragon. Then, of course, when we left, Peter was disappointed that he hadn't actually met this dragon. I told him that we would look up a picture of the dragon on my computer. Then the photographer, thinking she was hilarious, told him that her dragon's name was "Puff." This is a different gal than the one who took our family pictures (which turned out great. I'll do a separate blog post on those later...that actually took place in September and I forgot to blog it). I had purchased some Groupons and they both happened to expire at about the same time, and since I had put off getting the pictures, they ended up happening too close together. Not a good idea to schedule pictures that close together for toddlers. My boys had fun the first time, but hated it the second time around.

Above: He looks sweet, but a little apprehensive, as you can imagine, due to my "Pet Dragon Lady" story above.

Above: What a cute guy!

Above: He's a handsome guy!

Above: When we got home, I decided to take a little photo shoot of my own.

Above: I was able to get Jonathan to smile, where the photographer could not!

Above: Cute guy!

Above: Here is Jonathan making "guns" out of his two hands. He even made gun sounds to boot. "Pew! Pew!"

Above: He's getting so big!

Above: I love when he makes that silly expression.

Above: Better than any picture the photographer took of him!

Above: And thanks to the wonders of photoshop, that cord has been removed and we might just have a picture that we can print up and give to the grandparents!

Above: What a cutie!

Above: For conference weekend, all of the cousins went to the International Peace Gardens while all of the dads were at Priesthood Session.

Above: Climbing the "mountains" at the Peace Gardens.

Above: Cute cousin Kinlie.

Above: It's super fun to roll down this "mountain!"

Above: Cousin race!

Above: Cute posing in the Italian section of the park.

Above: Jonathan sure has a cute climbing stance.

Above: Aunt Emily took this super cute picture with her phone.

Above: Jonathan loves to walk with his hands behind his back.

Above: Pretending to be fishies in the Japanese portion of the park. The park had been winterized and all of the ponds were empty. That didn't stop the kids from pretending that the water was still there!

Above: This house is juuuuuuust the right size.

Above: Nammy came up with a fun game for everyone to play. Nammy played music on her phone and everyone danced. When the music stopped, everyone had to freeze. FREEZE!

Above: For conference weekend, we continued our tradition of putting up a tent and pitching it towards the prophets voice just like in the time of King Benjamin.

Above: Daddy sure builds cool train tracks! You have to keep these guys busy in order to keep them watching conference.

Above: Peter and Jonathan got to have a fun little lunch in front of the TV while watching conference.

Above: Good times in our tent!

Above: Daddy sure builds cool train tracks. Way cooler than what Mom builds.

Above: What cute guys! And is there anything better than watching conference in your PJ's?

Above: These boys get into all sorts of shenanigans. Why it would be fun to sit in a tupperware full of pokey cars is beyond me. But they had a great time! Jonathan was sweet and Peter got his dramatic side on!

Above: Here I am having some fun with the boys' wax mustache that Nammy gave them. Peter never fully appreciated them...but Jonathan did later, as you will soon see...in one of the next posts!

October will be continued shortly...

  2. What a crazy story about your photographer. Um, telling the kids that there is a hungry dragon in the ally probably isn't the brightest idea! HaHaHa. I'd be lookin' over my shoulder too. Poor Peter.
