Above: We decided to dye our eggs outside since it wasn't too cold.
Above: Peter is getting to be such a big boy! I love these guys!
Above: "Cheese!" Pulling the first egg out of the dye.
Above: Good times with Daddy!
Above: When we pulled the eggs out of the dye, we made an interesting discovery. Jonathan had a meltdown each time an egg was taken away. I had no idea why. I discovered later that it was because Jonathan thought each of these eggs had candy inside of them. He is my 'nandy' fiend.
Above: The egg dying kit came with sticker faces to put on the eggs. Peter helped me decorate the eggs. Jonathan had more meltdowns until I gave him some Easter candy...which he didn't really want to eat. He just wanted to unwrap. Well, at least it kept him busy for a bit!
Above: We dyed a couple of the eggs with a tie-dyed/marbelized method that a co-worker told me about.
Above: The eggs had a good time. They were good eggs.
Above: On our way to Mimi's house for our first Easter egg hunt!
Above: All lined up and ready to go!
Above: And...their off!
Above: Johnny had such a good time hunting for eggs.
Above: What did you get?
Above: There are more eggs over here!
Above: What a handsome guy!
Above: We made a tactical error. Peter took his flip flops off when he was playing before we hid the eggs. We didn't realize this, so he didn't have shoes on for the hunt. This slowed him down considerably. As a result, the cousins with shoes on were a lot faster and gathered a lot more eggs. I really thought this was going to lead to meltdowns from both Peter and Jonathan since everyone else had so many more eggs. However, they were just as sweet and happy as could be with their 5-10 eggs each--as opposed to the 20-50 eggs that each of their cousins gathered! I guess you never can predict what your kids will be fine with and what will send them over the edge! The boys just had a great time hunting for eggs and being with their cousins. They had enough candy to keep them busy on the ride home. All of that was enough for them!
Above: Getting to the point...unwrapping more candy.
Above: He is getting so big!
Above: Mimi had all sorts of cool yard/Easter games for the kids to play.
Above: Jumping on the trampoline with Daddy is the best!
Above: The cousins having a ton of fun together on the trampoline.
Above: Daddy is the best at bouncing everyone and it's fun to pile on Mimi!
Above: Nothing like a good round of ring around the rosie!
Above: When we got home from Mimi's house, Johnny had a nap and Peter had some quiet time. Then we had a scavenger hunt to find our Easter baskets. We did most of our Easter celebrating on Saturday (in the hopes that Sunday would be a little more Christ-centered).
Above: I hid the boys baskets in the spare room. The boys also got some DVDs.
Above: My efforts to keep things Christ-centered. When the boys found their baskets, they were way too excited and talkative. I tried reading this about three times and I don't think they heard it once!
Above: The boys had so much fun hunting for their baskets.
Above: We took a video of the Easter basket hunt. However, this is the only picture I took of them actually finding their baskets. D'oh!
Above: We did a mini egg hunt out in our own yard after the boys found their Easter baskets. I didn't fill the eggs though. We just hunted for the joy of hunting. We hid them about two or three times and hunted over and over again.
Above: The boys had a good time together.
Above: I was the egg basket carrier, so they were bringing their eggs to me.
Above: Johnny loves to open eggs. He doesn't always want to eat the candy. He just loves to open the eggs and see what is inside. We kept a few of the eggs out and put things in them for a few weeks after so that he could simply open them up.
Above: Peter had a great time biting a hole out of his Easter bunny and filling it with his other candy.
Above: I think my boys played with their candy more than they ate it.
Above: It really does work as a pretty good candy holder though.
Above: Playing some Mario after all of the Easter festivities and before bed time.
Above: Peter can actually beat the first board by himself. Johnny just holds the controller and pretends to play while looking super cute.
Above: After church and naps on Sunday, we went to Nammy's house for another Easter egg hunt and dinner! We actually could have done even one or two more Easter egg hunts, believe it or not. My grandma held one for her grandkids and great grandkids on Saturday (but it was during nap time) and my Dad had one on Saturday evening (however, he didn't give us much warning and after a busy day, we opted to stay home rather than getting everyone dressed and ready at the last minute).
Above: Nammy had plenty of eggs for the boys. They didn't leave with empty baskets this time, that is for sure!
Above: Those eggs were everywhere!
Above: Nammy even got us these cute buckets to put our eggs in. Nammy is too good to us!
Above: Nammy had a fishing pond for the boys after all the eggs were found. Johnny didn't want to fish, so Peter did the honors for both of them.
Above: My sister, Emily, did the honors of putting the prizes on the fishing hook.
Above: After a good hunt, there's nothing like cuddling up to Nammy, relaxing, and watching The Three Little Pigs.
Above: We love our Nammy!
We had a great Easter. Great memories, and good times with our family.
