July, Part 7: Washburns Enjoying the Great Outdoors

No summer is complete for the Washburn family without a trip, or two, or three, or four, or more to the mountains. We had fewer trips this year because I was big, and pregnant, and tired, but I still made sure that we got out a few times.

Above: We go to Silver Lake at least once a year. It is a tradition for us.

Above: The lake always has cute ducks on it and we can often see the fish as well.

Above: Tough guy, eh?

Above: I love this smiley guy!

Above: It's hard to keep up with them. They love to be on the move when we are in the mountains.

Above: Heading back to the path.

Above: "See ya later, shrubbery!"

Above: "What?" Yeah...he knows he's supposed to stay on the path, but he sure gets reminded of this a lot.

Above: A stick!

Above: I found a stick!

Above: YES! A stick!

Above: This guy sure likes to find sticks in the mountains.

Above: It was a beautiful night and there were lots of pretty mountain wildflowers. I love the smell of the mountains and the flowers. So wonderful.

Above: More funny business with the stick.

Above: The next few pictures are very similar, but I love the evolution of their expressions.

Above: And then the crazy side comes out!

Above: A bigger stick!

Above: "You call that a stick? Now this is a stick."

Above: Alright, Pete. That isn't a stick, it's a mini log. You can't take that with us.

Above: If there is one thing these boys love about the mountains more than its sticks, it is throwing rocks into the water.

Above: What a gorgeous view. Someone needs to paint this.

Above: Somehow, Blogger fused these two pictures into one. I don't have the energy to try and fix it right now. Cute though, eh?

Above: Just look at Pete's impish, mischievous expression.

Above: Lying down on the job, eh?

Above: Great balance!

Above: What a silly guy!

Above: As we were walking back to our car, Peter pointed out that there was a hidden Mickey on the mountain. Can you see it too?

Above: Bye, bye Silver Lake! We'll be back next year!

Above: My sister, Laurie, told us about a hike up to Cecret Lake in Albion Basin where you could see some beautiful flowers. We decided to check it out for ourselves. By some crazy twist of fate, we ended up there on the same night...but sadly, we didn't bump into each other. She is the artist in the family and a much better photographer than I am, so her pictures are absolutely breathtaking. My pictures don't quite do it justice, but take my word for it, it was beautiful. Well worth the hike! Though I will say this, Laurie said it was a really easy hike...maybe it is easier if you aren't 34 weeks pregnant...but I still made it! I am the champion, my friend!

Above: My sweet silly guys.

Above: Laying down on the job again!? What is going on, Mumu!?

Above: Yay! More sticks!

Above: We took a lot of breaks on this hike, so it took us much longer than anticipated. However, life isn't just about the destination, it's about the journey too, right?

Above: We made it! I took a break while the boys hiked around the lake a little bit more.

Above: That little blue dot is Peter's shirt.

Above: Jeremiah is in the green shirt.

Above: Heeeeere's Peter!

Above: And here comes my sweet Johnny.

Above: Time to head back before it gets dark!

Above: The benefit of our late start hiking was that we got to see a beautiful sunset on our way back down.

Above: Time to wash off! These boys get really dirty in the great outdoors! :)

  1. I'm going to have to try that hike next year. Didn't Peter get soap in his eyes? It hardly looks like him.
