August, Part 3: A Trip to the Bean Museum

Above: We took Peter to the Bean Museum a few years ago...but they have redone it and it is awesome, so we decided to take another visit after it reopened.

Above: Lots of cool things to see!

Above: A beetle made of beetles and a butterfly made of butterflies? Pretty neat stuff!

Above: The Bean Museum has the biggest. elevator. ever.

This was actually a crazy day. That morning, I got a call from my mom telling me that my brother, Nephi, had been in a car accident and was rushed to the hospital, but that we didn't know how he was doing. It was really scary. We all gathered together to start a family fast. Throughout the day, we heard that Nephi had suffered some pretty serious head injuries. However, the good news, which we also learned later that day, was that he was going to be alright. We continued our fast but decided to do something to keep our boys busy. It was so scary to have Nephi be so far away and not to be able to go and visit him. It was also hard to have so little information about his well-being for so long. We are truly grateful he turned out to be okay. After seeing the picture of his mangled car, it is clear to me that he was protected and watched over.

The boys loved the Bean Museum and had a good time. We even went to an animal show in the basement with live animals. The boys got to see snakes, turtles, lizards, and tarantulas. It was cute because Peter wanted to participate in the discussion so badly. The presenter was asking how the animals were the same and how they were different. Peter was so pleased to raise his hand and be able to say that spiders were similar because they had eyes and we had eyes. It was so cute. It was one of those moments where you are just bursting with love because you just adore your child so much.

  1. That really looks like a lot of fun. And a good way to spend what ended up being a really tough but miraculous day.
