April, Part 2: Easter and General Conference Weekend

Above: The Friday before Easter, we had the Washburn family to our house to have dinner and an Easter egg hunt in our backyard. Luckily, the snow that got dumped on us the day before melted and it was warm enough for the kids to hunt for eggs outside by the time the Easter egg hunt started.

Above: There were a TON of eggs...so everyone got plenty.

Above: Johnny was so worried that everyone else would get all the eggs and he wouldn't find enough for himself. As you can see, he did just fine.

Above: Jeremiah holding little Peyton.

Above: This is slightly blurry because Peter was always on the move!

Above: On Saturday morning (the day before Easter), we had our own Easter basket hunt. We figured that we would have some antsy kids on our hands during conference if we waited to get our Easter baskets. I also like to do Easter baskets and egg hunts on Saturday rather than Sunday so that the focus on Sunday can be on Christ.

Above: I always put eggs around the house with clues so we do an Easter basket treasure hunt around the house until they get to the final destination of where our Easter baskets are.

Above: The boys finally found the baskets hidden in our closet (behind Daddy's hanging clothes). We took our baskets out onto the landing to check out what they had gotten.

Above: These kids got waaaay too much candy for Easter (as a result, so did Mom...as seen in her weigh in at her next doctor's appointment in the following week).

Above: Saying "Cheese" with food on his mouth and on his face at the same time.

Above: Peter building the Legos he got for Easter (perfect since it is also our conference tradition to build Legos while we watch conference).

Above: Showing me the Lego guy he built.

Above: Working together.

Above: We always set up the tent when we watch conference...to pitch our tents towards the sound of the prophet's voice.

Above: When Daddy went to priesthood session of conference, we had a little Easter egg hunt for just our little family.

Above: After our little Easter egg hunt, we dyed Easter eggs.

Above: The boys did a great job decorating their eggs.

Above: After decorating our eggs, the boys became psycho crazy. Perhaps they were too hopped up on sugar. At any rate, they got put to bed early because they were being way too hyper (and alternately being too wild or fighting each other). I went to bed with a headache!

Above: Conference/Easter Sunday was rough. The boys were soooo hyper. We didn't get our usual mellow morning session while building Legos. Instead, the boys were banished to the basement because they were being too noisy and wild. Johnny then drew all over the walls with a pencil. So, then I made him clean up all of the pencil marks off of the walls. I then took down the conference tent early. The boys were in their rooms for the second session of conference. After conference, we went to Nammy's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt with the Mackay clan.

Above: The cousins also had a ton of fun playing in Nammy's sandbox.

Above: They took turns burying everyone else's feet. Here, it is Johnny's turn to have his feet buried.

Above: I would say that these kids lived off of a diet of sugar over conference/Easter weekend! I was very happy to put them to bed that Sunday night! Good memories though.

  1. Your boys got more Easter eggs than the real bunny! Some of these pictures aren't showing up on my computer. :(
