After sacrament and fast and testimony meeting, we headed back to the hotel and changed. We had a little down time, but the boys were getting antsy, so we decided to check out a children's museum called The Discovery Cube that we had seen nearby on our drive down.
When we got there, it was packed. Seriously, I swear that everyone who didn't have tickets for Disneyland that day decided to go to The Discovery Cube. Plus, half of their parking was closed because of construction. They instructed us to find parking in the mall parking lot that was across the street. However, everyone and their dog who wasn't at Disneyland and wasn't at The Discovery Cube was shopping at this mall! We finally found a parking spot (that was pretty far away from the children's museum) and by that time, we had been driving for quite awhile. Everyone was hungry, so we decided to get lunch. We stopped at a place that would have been awesome except that they decided to slather everything in American cheese. Yuck! Who invented American cheese? Because that stuff is NOT cheese. It just isn't. It is orange cheese-flavored vegetable oil. Yuck. So, we left lunch a little dissatisfied and Peter was in a pretty rotten mood. Rather than walk all the way to the museum and then walk even further back to our car, I decided that I would drop Jeremiah and the boys off at the museum and then find a parking spot and meet up with them.
It still took me forever to find a parking spot. It was closer than the last spot had been, but it was still plenty far away. By the time I got to the museum and met up with Jeremiah and the boys, they had already been through about half of the museum. It was a decent enough museum. The problem was that while they had some pretty fun exhibits, each exhibit took up a ton of space and only one kid could interact with each exhibit at a time. Oh, and I mentioned before that the museum was packed. So, it took forever for our boys to get a chance to try out each exhibit...and most of them they didn't even get the chance because it was too crowded.
Above: The museum had a pretty fun Lego exhibit.
Above: I didn't get many pictures because it was so doggone crowded!
In addition to all of the above, Johnny--who doesn't always need naps--was needing a nap on every single day of this trip. Perhaps it was that we were having busy, event-filled days. Perhaps it was because he was sick. I don't know, but he was having meltdowns because he was so tired and needed a nap and Peter was basically resorting to trying to kill him in retaliation because Johnny was being so whiny.
So, after the museum, Johnny promptly fell asleep in the car, so we headed back to the beach (obviously, a different beach this time) so that Peter and Jeremiah could have some fun while I sat in the car with Johnny as he napped.
After the beach, we headed to Walmart and Jeremiah bought a stroller. We had decided not to bring our double stroller...but at Legoland when Johnny had his meltdown, I immediately regretted that decision. We figured that we could rent a stroller at Disneyland. However, the cost of renting a stroller would have been more over the two days than buying a new umbrella stroller. Our old umbrella stroller was pretty trashed, so we figured we would just buy a new stroller for when baby Daniel joins us.
After that, the boys went swimming for a good long while and then we ordered delivery since our hotel didn't offer room service. The delivery took FOREVER to get there. We got Italian food. Pizzas for the boys and spaghetti and meatballs for me. I was so looking forward to having something other than just fast food...but I was pretty disappointed. It was the weirdest, densest meatball I have ever had. Not good at all. Plus, it was a huge meatball. I didn't even eat half of it. I don't remember the name of the place we went to. I wish I did so I could avoid it in the future!
After everyone ate, we all went to bed.
Next up...Disneyland!
I'm impressed that you fit in church. Hard to do with boys on a vacation. Good for you.
