April, Part 3: Spring Break Week

The first day of spring break was pretty uneventful because half the day was spent because I accompanied a song at the funeral of my Relief Society president's mother. So, we didn't really do anything out of the ordinary for spring break on Monday.

On Tuesday, however, I drove the boys up to Ogden and took them to the Treehouse Children's Museum. I really like that place...and I don't. It is way too easy for kids to run off and for you to lose sight of them. So, I find it pretty stressful. Peter runs off, of course. Johnny, hangs by my side and makes it hard to keep up with Peter. So, we lost sight of Peter a ton of times and while we all had a fun time, I was more than ready to go home when the time came.

Above: Johnny was feeling pretty shy at first, so he refused to play any of the musical instruments. Peter, on the other hand, was more than happy to pound on some drums.

Above: Pretending to be the President of the United States of America...old school style.

Above: Playing a giant game of chess, which they call "checkers."

Above: Despite all these pictures where it looks like we pretty much had the museum to ourselves, the museum was pretty crowded. There was a combination of kids on spring break, moms with younger kids doing play dates, and kids on field trips because they weren't on spring break. It was kind of crazy. The boys had a good time though.

Above: What a good student.

Above: What a great teacher!

Above: Peter wasn't practicing ballet...I just happened to snap this picture while he was stepping over some chess men in a very balletic way.

Above: The boys loved playing with the castle set.

Above; They probably could have played with that castle set forever...but the kids behind Johnny decided to build a triple level castle...which knocked over and pinched Johnny's fingers. It stinks that we ended on that note, but it actually helped me to make a speedy exit. I had to be back home to prep dinner to take to a gal in my ward who was suffering from some major morning sickness. We got home just in time (thank goodness we beat the afternoon traffic) and got dinner to them just in time.

Above: After dinner, the boys enjoyed another game of rolling pin/masher with Dad.

Above; Yeah, these guys are pretty much crazy.

Above: On Wednesday, it snowed. Boo! So, we decided to have a mellow day and stay inside.

Above: There was still a ton of snow on Thursday morning, but by Thursday afternoon, it was all gone again. What a difference a day makes!

Above: On Thursday, we went with Emily White and her family to the Thanksgiving Point Museum of Curiosity...along with about every other kid who was on spring break in our neck of the woods. It was so crazy. Beyond crowded and crazy claustrophobic. Yuck. Luckily, it was warm enough to play outside and while still crowded out there too, it wasn't nearly as packed as it had been inside the museum. So, the boys had a lot of fun getting out their energy by running all over the place.

Above: Johnny had a great time hiking up these rocks and then running back down in the children's gardens.

Above: Peter had a great time playing with all of the other kids.

Above: As you can see above, it was a very crowded day at the museum! Also, as I said before, it was much less crowded outside than it was inside...but it still looked like this outside!

Above: What a sweet guy.

Above: That's my sassy guy right there.

Above: Laurie and I had originally planned to meet at the dinosaur museum and also go to the museum of Natural curiosity at Thanksgiving Point on Friday during spring break. However, when it was so packed on Thursday, we changed our plans. We decided to meet at Millrace Park and let the kids play together on the playground and feed the ducks instead.

Above: It was a good choice to go to the park instead. It was a gorgeous day and the kids had a lot of fun. Plus, Laurie and I avoided the crowds (and we both hate crowds, so we were happy about that!).

It was a good spring break week. We had a lot of fun.

  1. Peter just always looks so excited to try everything new; Johnny not always so much; but he has a cute smile all the same. :)
