Above: Here we are getting ready to go to our ward Halloween party. Peter is quite the chameleon and loves to have different costumes. Johnny initially told me that he wanted to be the grim reaper. I thought that might be a little too scary for him, but he insisted. Of course, as soon as I bought the costume for him, he decided it was too scary for him to wear. Then he said he wanted to be a mummy. I suggested that perhaps he would want to be a mummy puppy. He insisted that he wanted to be a mummy. Well, I was having a hard time finding mummy costumes and my gut was telling me that as soon as I bought it, Johnny would say it was too scary to wear anyway. So, I went with my gut and bought Johnny a puppy costume and then I bought some gauze just in case...I figured I could wrap him up over the puppy costume and he could be a mummy puppy if he insisted on it. Well, I was right. It was too scary to be a mummy and my puppy-loving Johnny fell in love with the puppy costume and didn't need to be a mummy puppy...just a simple regular little puppy. Peter liked the grim reaper costume though and decided to wear it to our ward party. Peter called it his "Creeper" costume, so it didn't go to waste.
Above: Peter insisted on wearing make-up...I didn't have anything but some foundation that was too light for my skin tone after I bought it and some old mascara. So, I covered his face in a bunch of foundation and then darkened his eyebrows and made some highlights on his face with my old mascara. Next time, I will be more prepared with some actual face make-up for my costume-loving Pete.
Above: Participating in the Halloween parade with his best buddy, Jonas.
Above: Jeremiah and I won the best costumes at the ward party for our nurse and sailor costumes.
Above: A friend at work did a little photo shop magic for us. I just feel that we were lucky we didn't get hit by any cabs while we were kissing in such heavy traffic. ;)
Above: The original picture that inspired the costumes. So, our pose needs a little work, but I think our story is much better than the actual story behind this picture. Apparently, this sailor was on a date with a completely different girl. They were in a movie theater, but left early when they heard the news that the war was over. He and his date went out to celebrate and he got sloshing drunk. He just happened to see this "nurse" who was actually a dental assistant from another country who left work after hearing the news. She was trying to get news of her parents who were still in Europe and he simply grabbed her and kissed her without any warning at all. The crazy thing is that this sailor ended up marrying the girl he was on the date with, who apparently didn't mind so much that he grabbed another girl and kissed her during their first date. True story. Read about it here.
Above: Johnny at his preschool Halloween party/program. This guy has never liked loud noises, which is pretty amazing because he can create the most ear-piercing shrieks you have ever heard in your entire life.
Above: He sure is a cutie though!
Above: It was fun to see everyone's costumes.
Above: He was really into playing the part of a puppy. Even when everyone else was standing, he stayed on his knees to be little like a puppy.
Above: Decorating pumpkins with the family.
Above: "Cheese!"
Above: Johnny wanted to paint his pumpkin.
Above: Pete was excited to carve his very first pumpkin all by himself.
Above: Posing with our completed pumpkins.
Above: I couldn't get a non-blurry picture, but here is the pumpkin that Pete carved all by himself.
Above: At the costume parade at Ridgeline.
Above: This guy was moving fast, so I didn't get very many non-blurry pictures, but isn't he the sweetest ninja ever? That is Peter's friend, Lucy, ahead of him dressed as Little Red Riding Hood.
Above: I have no idea who this little girl is, but I thought it was super awesome that she was dressed as Holly Golightly/Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Above: There were so many sumo wrestler costumes! They were so funny! I kind of want to be a sumo wrestler myself next Halloween!
Above: Peter and his friend, Alex Kolb, at their class Halloween party.
Above: Here's the whole class. There sure were a lot of characters from the movie Frozen! Too many Elsas and Annas to count!
Above: Here are our pumpkins in the light of day.
Above: That is Pete's pumpkin right in the middle.
Above: Well, when it finally came time to go Trick-or-Treating, Peter had another fever and was feeling pretty miserable. He did NOT want to go...but I knew he would be sad if he didn't, so we drove down to mom's trunk-or-treat. Peter's fever broke right before actually going trick-or-treating, so his spirits perked up a bit, but he still wasn't quite himself. As a result, trick-or-treating was short and sweet this year.
Above: Aunt Emily took our pictures, so I took some pictures of her. Isn't this an awesome mermaid costume?!
Above: After we finished trick-or-treating, we stopped at Apollo Burger to get some dinner before heading home.
Above: My boys probably thought this was the best part of the night.
There you have it! Another October and Halloween gone. Now on to November!
