Legoland started off well. The boys were really excited. It was kind of a chilly day, but the boys were so excited that they didn't care. We started off by going on a boat ride.
Above: Waiting in line for our first ride at Legoland.
Above: I would describe this boat ride as being like the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, but with Lego buildings and creations in place of the Jungle theme.
Above: The boys thought this ride was great and I was happy that we were off to a great start.
Above: Daddy proving that I was present on our trip.
After the boat ride, we went on a little water ride that was very much like something you would go on at Lagoon...and the line took FOREVER. Seriously, it shouldn't have taken as long as it did, but we were in that line for almost a full hour. The boys were pretty patient, but the right was definitely not enough of a payoff to justify that line.
Above: Next we waited in line for a ride that was kind of like the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disneyland. It was a pyramid/Indiana Jones type of theme where you were an archaeologist shooting at undead mummy skeletons to get points with your laser gun. It was super loud and again, a very long line, and Johnny wasn't a big fan.
Above: Daddy got a good score though.
Above: After the mummy ride, it was around 1 p.m. We had been in the park since 10 a.m. and only gone on three rides. Johnny, who hadn't gotten enough sleep due to our crazy traveling the night before, had reached his limit. He had the worst tantrum of his life. I knew he was tired. I found a shaded bench and tried to get him to sleep on my lap, but it was too noisy and there was far too much going on around us for him to settle down. He said he was thirsty, so Jeremiah had headed off to find him a drink and that took FOREVER. Johnny proceeded to cry the entire time that Jeremiah was gone (which was at least 20 minutes, but perhaps even longer...at least it felt longer). Peter, meanwhile, was playing in a play area happily within my eyesight. When Jeremiah got back I told him that I would simply have to take Johnny out to the car so he could get some sleep. As I had mentioned, it was a cool day, so with the windows slightly cracked, the car was the perfect cozy temperature for a nap, and the parking lot was quiet enough that Johnny was able to get some rest. He ended up sleeping for almost two hours! While we were gone, Peter and Jeremiah went on a bunch of the rides that I couldn't go on (because I am pregnant) and Johnny wouldn't go on (because he isn't tall enough yet...and because he doesn't like fast rides). When Johnny woke up, he was in a much better mood. However, by that time, it was 3 p.m. and the park was due to close at 5 p.m. I also had a massive headache because I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast (I get really bad low blood sugar headaches when I am pregnant if I don't eat often). I called Jeremiah on my way in and told him we were coming back. A very sweet gal overheard me telling Jeremiah about my headache and she offered to give me some Tylenol. She gave me some...but I didn't end up taking it because she had it mixed up with a bunch of other different kinds of medicine and I wasn't sure if that was okay or not since I was pregnant. I'm sure it would have been fine, but I wasn't going to take any chances after my two miscarriages last year! Anyway, Jonathan and I headed back into the park and got some food for the two of us. After eating, we headed over to the only ride that I knew Johnny absolutely wanted to ride on. Since the time I told the boys that we could go to Legoland, all Johnny talked about was riding in the cars.
Above: The car line wasn't too bad...but it still took quite awhile. The lines at Legoland were really long and poorly managed. However, I managed to get Johnny on a Lego car. He was as happy as could be...until it was time to drive and he couldn't quite figure it out. He was so embarrassed and frustrated that he couldn't figure it out that he ended up folding his arms, bowing his head, and sobbing during the entire ride. I was powerless to do anything about it but watch until the ride was over. After that, I figured I would take Johnny on a very mellow boat ride (similar to the storybook boat ride at Disneyland), but on the way there, Johnny somehow tripped and badly skinned both of his knees. Thank goodness I had packed some band-aids in my backpack! I cleaned his knees with some wipes, bandaged him up and decided to just call it. It was close to 4 p.m. and Jeremiah and Peter had had their fill of the park and had headed to the gift shop to buy souvenirs. So, I headed over to the gift shop with Johnny to get something for him too. After we got both of the boys some souvenirs, we went through the Legoland aquarium before exiting.
Above: The aquarium was fun, and a nice way to end our trip to Legoland, but honestly, our new aquarium in Draper, Utah is better!
Above: The Legoland aquarium did have some super fun Lego touches though. The boys had a great time building a Lego castle. The base of the castle was glued down, but there were lots of extra pieces there so that you could add to it. What a great idea!
Above: My master Lego builder.
Above: Working together as a team!
Above: Then, of course, the boys turned on each other. Both of them had a long day, not enough sleep the night before, and they had reached their limit. Johnny was super whiny and Peter wasn't in the mood to take it. Our trip to Legoland ended with Johnny whining about something that Peter did and Peter returning the compliment by kicking Johnny in the face (why that kid always makes his face so accessible to Peter's feet, I will never understand). So, Jeremiah grabbed Peter and I grabbed Johnny and we carried both boys out and didn't get to really look at the rest of the aquarium. We then went back to the car, and then went back to our hotel room. Jeremiah had hoped to visit with his friend, Nick, who lived nearby, but that fell through. So, Jeremiah and the boys went swimming in the hotel pool for a bit and then we drove out and picked up some dinner (Jack in the Box for the boys, El Pollo Loco for us). We then went back to our hotel room, ate, and went to bed. What a day!
Amusement parks are fun but I always wished I lived close enough to go to my own bed.
