When we first got into the park, we got there before it officially opened. As soon as they announced the opening of the park, we headed straight for Pirates of the Caribbean. We walked right on. The boys LOVED it. They immediately wanted to go on it again...but we convinced them to go on The Haunted Mansion ride first. After The Haunted Mansion, we went on Pirates of the Caribbean again...and then it started to rain lightly. We had bought rain ponchos when we bought the stroller...but unfortunately, they were adult size so they were far too big for the boys. So, Jeremiah took the boys on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and they had a great time, but by the time they finished, the rain had picked up. So, Jeremiah took the boys to the rifle shooting game and I went into a shop to buy the boys some ponchos. Of course, Peter was the only one who would wear his. Johnny completely refused.
Above: We headed next to The Jungle Cruise because the line wasn't as long and it offered some cover from the rain.
Above: The boys had a good time on the Jungle Cruise ride. After that, Jeremiah took Peter on The Indiana Jones ride because there was only a five minute wait. Can you believe that? The lines were incredibly manageable. In fact, the longest we had to wait for anything our entire time at Disneyland was probably 25 minutes...and after the longer lines (with less payout) at Legoland, that was a piece of cake for the boys. While Jeremiah and Pete went on The Indiana Jones ride, I took Johnny back to Pirates of the Caribbean (the fan favorite for our sweet boys). By the time we got off, Jeremiah and Pete had already finished going on The Indiana Jones ride...so we all went on Pirates again! Ha ha! We probably went on Pirates of the Caribbean at least 15 times over the course of our two days there.
Above: We then headed to Tomorrowland so the boys could go on Star Tours. I walked through the line with them, but like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, I had to duck out before the ride started since I couldn't ride it because I am pregnant.
Above: I took this crooked picture after they came out of Star Tours. They loved it!
Above: The boys loved the Buzz Lightyear ride too. Daddy got the highest score. Mom came in second and Pete came in third.
Above: We then headed to Fantasyland. Johnny was pretty close to losing it...but luckily this day, he was able to do without a nap and we pushed through it and he moved past his cranky phase. Also, they uncovered the castle just in time for our trip. Aunt Emily went two weeks before we did and the castle was under construction and covered by a large box (that was painted with an image of the castle).
Above: This sassy guy did not want to pose for a picture in front of the castle.
Above: In line for the Snow White ride. All of the lines were so fast. January, February, and March are the months to go to Disneyland, my friends.
Above: These guys can never resist a good carousel.
Above: Dad swears he was getting his phone ready to take some pictures of the guys.
Above: Mommy skipped the teacups. Pregnant or not, Mommy will always skip the teacups. They make me too dizzy!
Above: Going on the Alice in Wonderland ride. Johnny was really excited that we got a pink and purple caterpillar to ride in.
Above: Checking out the white rabbit's house.
Above: Daddy trying on a silly Olaf hat. Doesn't he look fetching?
Above: Snuggling my guys.
Above: Trying to pull the sword from the stone.
Above: Heading back to Pirates of the Caribbean. Quite a few things were closed for refurbishment. Splash Mountain was closed (and as a result, all of Critter Country was closed as well). The Peter Pan ride was closed. So was the Matterhorn. However, while I was sad that Johnny couldn't ride Splash Mountain for the first time, I was glad that we went when we did. Despite the morning rain storm, it was beautiful weather and not crowded at all. You can't beat that! We actually stayed pretty late (for the boys) on our first day. Disneyland closed at 8 p.m. and we left at around 6:30 p.m. and got back to our hotel at around 7 p.m. We then got some dinner and snuggled down into bed while watching Big Hero 6 at the hotel.
Above: Our second day of Disneyland. We were checking out the steamboat right after riding Pirates of the Caribbean, of course!
Above: We weren't as lucky today to skip out on Johnny's nap. However, since we bought a stroller, he had a place to snuggle in. He did have a major tantrum just before though. Jeremiah and Peter went on Star Tours and Johnny and I went to go and get some lunch for everyone. As soon as they handed me my tray of food, Johnny decided that we weren't doing what he wanted to do and he promptly sat down on the ground, refused to move, and started crying. I thought, "What in the world am I going to do?" There were no tables nearby for me to set down our tray of food. Johnny is getting harder and harder for me to pick up since he is getting bigger and I am pregnant. Just then, Jeremiah showed up and saved the day. He grabbed Johnny, found a table, and we sat down to eat. Johnny then had the continuation of his major tantrum and as soon as we finished eating, I put him in his stroller and strolled away to a less crowded place where he quickly fell asleep. He slept for at least an hour while I just sat there and Peter and Jeremiah went on a bunch of rides in the meantime.
Above: I held the stroller up so that Johnny would be more reclined. He slept with his arms and legs both crossed. So silly!
Above: When Johnny woke up, we headed towards Toon Town. Jeremiah and Peter were riding the train around Disneyland. The train had some issues and stalled, so they had to get off and walk to meet us. So, it took awhile to meet up. I got some popcorn for Johnny to munch on while we waited and got some for Pete to eat once we saw him again. Once we met up, we all went to Toon Town together. Toon Town is always such a let down. Such a great concept...but not as fun as it seems like it should be. Peter's favorite part from last time--Donald Duck's house--was closed. As was Goofy's house. I had also told Johnny that I thought Daisy Duck had a house too (Johnny loves Daisy), but it turns out she doesn't have a house. Minnie has a house, but not Daisy. Also, since Donald's house was closed, it just made it worse. Johnny had a little fit because he couldn't go into Daisy's house.
Above: He looks chipper here, but both of the buys had reached their limits by this time. We went and got their souvenirs that they wanted and then we headed back to the hotel. It was only around 5 or 5:30 p.m., so we got our hands stamped for re-entry just in case we decided to return. I wish we had stuck it out. I really think the boys just needed a little break to get their second wind.
As it was, we went back to the hotel and just sat there while the boys fought off and on over the next few hours while they watched TV until it was bedtime! Jeremiah was too tired to go swimming...and I think the boys were too because they didn't mention it or ask to go either. I really wish we had walked back to see the fireworks...or just to go on Pirates of the Caribbean one last time. I think the night would have been a little more successful if we had.
Oh well, at any rate, we had a very successful couple of days at Disneyland. The weather was gorgeous, the crowds were minimal, there weren't as many tantrums as I expected, and the tantrums weren't as bad as I expected either. So, even though we left earlier than I would have liked, I felt that it turned out very successfully.

So nice to be able to build memories like that. And good for Jeremiah that he has a little buddy willing to do it all! They are soul mates that way.
